Tunisian Dam Fill Rate Reaches 33.7% as of February 5, 2025

According to the National Office of Water Resources and Fisheries (ONAGRI), the fill rate of Tunisian dams has reached 33.7% as of February 5, 2025, a 10.6-point increase since September 1, 2024.

The fill rates vary by region, with dams in the north reaching 39%, those in Cap Bon at 28.9%, and those in the center at only 12.6%.

The total water reserves stand at 797,495 million cubic meters, a slight increase compared to 2023 (768,916 million cubic meters), but still below the average of the last three years (-54,982 million cubic meters). Sidi Salem dam (Béja) has a fill rate of 19.8%, while Sidi el-Barrak dam (Béja) has reached 70.4%.

Despite this improvement, the water situation remains concerning, with water inflows into dams (557,317 million cubic meters) significantly lower than the average for the period (-361,704 million cubic meters).
