Appointment of New CEO for CPG and GCT
The government has appointed Omar Bouzouada as the President and CEO of the Gafsa Phosphate Company (CPG) and the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT), according to a decree published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Tunisia (JORT) on June 1, 2026.
Background
This appointment is part of a change in leadership at the two main players in the phosphate sector in Tunisia.
Decrees
- Decree No. 79 of 2026 entrusts Omar Bouzouada with the management of CPG and GCT.
- At the same time, Decree No. 80 terminates the functions of Abdelkader Amaydi as General Manager of the Gafsa Phosphate Company.
- Decree No. 81 also terminates the functions of Hedi Youssef as head of the Tunisian Chemical Group.
This change in leadership marks a new era for the phosphate sector in Tunisia, with Omar Bouzouada at the helm of both CPG and GCT.
