Tunisia's Basic Product Reserves Sufficient for 3-4 Months

According to a statement by Sami Bouaziz, Deputy General Director of the Tunisian Office of Commerce (OCT), on Mosaïque FM, Tunisia's basic product reserves are sufficient to cover market needs for 3 to 4 months.

Sugar Reserves

Regarding sugar, Bouaziz specified that 50% of sugar consumption is destined for households, and this consumption increases by 10% during the month of Ramadan. Currently, sugar reserves stand at 70,000 tons and are expected to reach 100,000 tons by next week.

Rice Reserves

Rice reserves currently stand at 6,500 tons and are expected to exceed 8,000 tons by March.

Coffee Reserves

Weekly coffee consumption is 500 tons, but reserves are expected to reach 5,400 tons this week.

Tea Reserves

Daily tea consumption is 25 tons, and current reserves vary between 400 and 600 tons.

Improved Situation

It is clear that the situation of basic product reserves has significantly improved, putting an end to the shortage that marked the previous period. With sufficient stocks for several months, Tunisia is now better positioned to meet demand, particularly during periods of increased consumption such as Ramadan.
