KfW Tunisia Office Holds Handover Ceremony for New Director


The KfW office in Tunisia organized a handover ceremony for the new Director of the KfW office in Tunisia on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. The event was attended by around 70 strategic partners, including directors and project managers from various ministries and public institutions, as well as representatives from international organizations.

Distinguished Guests and Keynote Speakers


The event was marked by the presence of Dr. Daniela Beckmann, Head of the North Africa Department, and Ms. Isabel Bodemeyer and Ms. Sonja Höss, both Country Directors at KfW's headquarters in Frankfurt.

In her opening speech, Dr. Beckmann officially handed over the reins from Ms. Beate Richter to her successor, Dr. Jörg Dux. Dr. Beckmann thanked Ms. Richter, the former Resident Director, for her valuable commitment throughout her three-year tenure in Tunisia. She also welcomed the new Director, who is already familiar with Tunisia, and wished him great success in his new role.

Farewell and Welcome


Ms. Beate Richter, the former Resident Director, took the opportunity to warmly thank the Tunisian partners present for their excellent cooperation with KfW.

Dr. Jörg Dux, who will take up his new role as Director of the KfW office in Tunis from August 1, was previously Head of the Water Resources Division in North Africa at KfW's headquarters and also managed the solid waste sector in the region.

Background on KfW's Cooperation with Tunisia


As a reminder, German financial cooperation with Tunisia began in the 1960s. The KfW office in Tunisia was established in 2012. Today, the office consists of a team of 12 national and international staff members, with a project financing volume of approximately €1.32 billion in 2024 in Tunisia, primarily in the sectors of water, energy and renewable energy, finance, education, and transport.
