Tunisian Unified Automobile Bureau Launches Electronic Green Card Platform
The Tunisian Unified Automobile Bureau (BUAT) has launched "MICARD", an electronic platform for issuing green cards, enabling Tunisian vehicles to circulate in Europe, according to recent reports.
Initiated in May 2024 by five insurance companies for a trial period, the system is expected to be generalized to all automobile insurance companies by June 2024. The primary objective is to reduce fraud and simplify procedures for exporting companies and citizens.
Training workshops have been organized for insurance companies. The official inauguration of the system will take place on June 3, 2024, in Tunis. A transitional phase from June to September 2024 will allow for the parallel use of paper and electronic cards. From October 2024, only electronic cards will be in use.
