International Students in Germany Face 6.2% Increase in Living Expenses
As the new academic year approaches, international students wishing to pursue their studies in Europe are facing a 6.2% increase in living expenses in Germany, a neighboring country of France. Starting from September 1, 2024, students from non-EU countries who want to enroll in a German university will be required to prove that they have a minimum amount of €11,904 (approximately 40,000 Tunisian dinars) in a blocked bank account, up from €11,208 previously.
This amount must be deposited into a specific bank account, known as a "Sperrkonto". Students will be allowed to withdraw up to €992 per month to cover their living expenses. Those applying for a student visa to Germany will still need to comply with the old threshold of €11,208, as indicated on the Schengen News website.
