NextProtein CEO Meets with FIPA-Tunisia to Discuss Investment Opportunities
Introduction
Mohamed Gastli, CEO and co-founder of nextProtein, was received at the FIPA-Tunisia headquarters by its General Director, Jalel Tebib. The meeting focused on the business climate in Tunisia, investment opportunities, and incentive measures to support innovative projects with high added value, particularly in sustainable sectors.
Discussion on Investment and Economic Development
Jalel Tebib recalled that FIPA-Tunisia accompanies foreign investors and the Tunisian diaspora at every stage of their projects and emphasized that 2026 is expected to be a favorable year for investment and economic development. Mohamed Gastli presented nextProtein's ambitions, marked by a strategic step: the completion of an €18 million fundraising round led by SWEN Capital Partners and British International Investment (BII), with the support of Mirova and RAISE Impact.
Investment and Expansion Plans
This funding will enable the launch of an extension at the beginning of 2026. Thanks to this investment, the startup plans to open its second production site in Tunisia, increase its annual capacity to 12,000 tons of insect-based ingredients, and strengthen its mission: offering sustainable and competitive alternatives to traditional animal feed sources. As announced in a statement by FIPA, nextProtein has developed a circular model transforming organic waste into insect protein since its founding in 2015.
Company Background and Future Prospects
NextProtein is one of the leading European scale-ups in the sector, consolidating its partnerships in aquaculture and agriculture, and demonstrating that insect protein can be competitive on an industrial scale. The Tunisian site employs over 30 engineers, and development prospects remain ambitious for the years to come.
