Rouhaniyet Festival: A Celebration of Sufi Music and Mysticism in Tozeur, Tunisia
The 8th edition of Rouhaniyet, the Sufi Music and Mysticism Festival, will take place in Tozeur, particularly in Nefta, from October 30 to November 2, 2024. This year's theme, "Ichq" (passion), promises to transport visitors on an intense and mystical musical journey.
Since its creation in 2015, Rouhaniyet has distinguished itself through the richness of its program and the diversity of its artists. This new edition will bring together troupes from different horizons, including local and international formations. Countries such as Tanzania, Syria, Morocco, Palestine, and others will be represented by musicians dedicated to transmitting the Sufi tradition.
Tunisia will not be left behind, with performances by Mounir Troudi, Leila Hjaïej, and the troupe "La Hadhra". The opening night will feature the show "Ziara" at the Nefta Municipal Theater. The program will culminate with the closing performance by Palestinian singer Dalal Abu Amneh, who will interpret her work "Nur".
In addition to concerts, the event will include thematic conferences, creative workshops, and a craft fair showcasing local know-how. Guided tours of the Zaouias, sacred sites in the Chott Jerid region, will offer an immersion in Tunisian Sufi heritage.
It's worth noting that "Rouhaniyet" is also an economic showcase for the region. Each year, it attracts a growing number of foreign visitors, contributing to the development of cultural tourism in Tunisia. The support of the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts reflects the importance given to this event, which reinforces Tunisia's image as a destination rich in spiritual traditions.
