Sotipapier Industrial Site Hit Hard by Torrential Rains
The Sotipapier industrial site, located in the Nabeul region, was severely affected by the torrential rains that hit the area between January 19 and 21, 2026. In response to this exceptional weather event, the company immediately took action to minimize the damage.
Priority to Safety and Damage Assessment
As a precautionary measure and to eliminate any risk of electrical accidents, the management decided to shut down all machines instantly. This shutdown aims primarily to protect the employees present on the site as well as the production equipment. Since the waters began to recede, a real race against time has begun:
- Comprehensive Audit: Internal teams, supported by technical experts, are currently conducting a thorough examination of the facilities.
- Technical Assessment: The objective is to precisely measure the impact of the flooding on the infrastructure.
Towards a Gradual Resumption
While Sotipapier is doing everything possible to restart production as soon as possible, safety remains the top priority. For the time being, no restart date has been set, as the company prefers to wait until it has total guarantees on the proper functioning of its equipment. On the administrative side, the file is already in the hands of insurers for compensation for damages. The company has committed to keeping its shareholders and partners informed as soon as the schedule for returning to normal is established via the Financial Market Council (CMF). This incident is a harsh reminder of the fragility of our industries in the face of climate change. The increasing frequency of these extreme events, particularly on the coast, now requires economic actors to rethink their resilience.
