MAE Assurances Hosts Successful MutualHack Event
In a vibrant atmosphere of music, lights, and excitement, MAE Assurances organized the finale of its first MutualHack event on May 3-4, 2024, at the digital innovation hub "The Dot". This hackathon aimed to support social and environmental entrepreneurship, culminating in an awards ceremony with a check and 3-month accompaniment.
The Challenge
Fifty students from various Tunisian regions, divided into 10 teams, were tasked with proposing innovative solutions to support the social and solidarity economy in three themes: rural women's inclusion, access to quality education, and environmental protection in the insurance sector.
And the Winners Are...
"We are creators of hope for these innovative seeds, these students. We want to trust them and help them pursue their dreams. We have a 360° approach within the framework of MAE's CSR strategy, cultivating an environment conducive to social innovation and inspiring students to become agents of change in their communities," said Lassaad Zarrouk, CEO of MAE.
MutualHack by MAE: A Step Towards Engagement
The MutualHack by MAE represents a step in this commitment, offering students an experience punctuated by workshops, mentorship, and networking with experts and professionals. The dynamic was so successful that the jury had a hard time choosing the winners.
The Surprising Results
The announcement of the results began with a big surprise. The classic podium formula (the top three) was shaken up by a jury that had a soft spot.
The Winners
- 4th Place (Special Mention): A mobile app for special-needs students, particularly the hearing-impaired. The group wins a check of 3,000 TND and 3 months of accompaniment to develop and accelerate the project.
- 3rd Place: An innovation for hygienic towels made from sheep's wool and flax fiber, produced by rural women's workshops in Sidi Bouzid and beyond. The group wins 5,000 TND and 3 months of accompaniment.
- 2nd Place: A double idea for fraud detection and paper usage reduction, benefiting environmental protection in the insurance sector. The group wins 7,500 TND and 3 months of accompaniment.
- 1st Place: A mix of ideas and resources to track students' progress, evaluate their results, and open up opportunities, especially for those at risk of dropping out. The group wins 10,000 TND and 3 months of accompaniment.
A Successful Experience
For MAE, the experience was so conclusive that the general enthusiasm led to the decision to repeat the event every year. The company promises to exceed the 50 students who participated in this first 2024 session.
A Token of Appreciation
To mark the occasion, MAE took the opportunity to offer certificates of recognition to the jury members for their commitment during the 36 hours of MutualHack. A tribute was also paid to Amin Hamdi, the president of the council, who "helped revive, with MAE, a true mutualism in the insurance sector in Tunisia".
