Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Participates in African Union Executive Council Discussions
Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in the discussions of the African Union Executive Council, highlighting Tunisia's commitment to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He emphasized the importance of strengthening this modern institution to support economic integration, intra-African trade, and sustainable development. He also stressed the need to intensify consultations between member states and establish support mechanisms, such as the Adaptation Fund, to ensure a stable investment environment, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his bilateral meetings, the minister exchanged views with his Libyan, Angolan, and Tanzanian counterparts, discussing cooperation and development issues. With his Libyan counterpart, Taher Al-Baour, they discussed economic, financial, and technical cooperation, as well as national reconciliation and regional security. On the other hand, Téte Antonio, his Angolan counterpart, praised their historical relations and agreed to strengthen their partnership in key sectors such as technology and food industry, with a joint commission planned in Luanda.
The minister also reiterated Tunisia's commitment to supporting sustainable development in Africa and actively contributing to the construction of an independent financial system for the continent. He emphasized the importance of a continental financial mechanism to reduce dependence on international institutions and address global economic challenges. The goal is to ensure durable prosperity for the continent and promote key continental projects, within the framework of Agenda 2063.
