Economic Control Teams Record 16% Increase in Infringements
Between July 1st and 30th, economic control teams identified 7,705 infringements, a 16% increase compared to the same period last year, the Ministry of Commerce and Export Development announced on Thursday.
Infringements Breakdown
Among these infringements, 1,877 concerned abusive price fixing and product manipulation benefiting from subsidies. Economic transaction transparency was also compromised, with 4,238 infringements reported. The remaining 1,590 infringements affected various other sectors.
Most Affected Products
The most affected products were fresh agricultural and seafood products, with 2,815 infringements, followed by general food products (2,351 cases). Bakeries, restaurants, and cafes ranked third, with 1,030 infringements, while miscellaneous industrial products accounted for 1,509 cases.
Control Operations
A total of 49,306 control visits were conducted in distribution circuits. These operations, carried out in collaboration with security forces, are part of the state's ongoing efforts to combat monopolistic practices, price manipulation, and ensure greater transparency for consumers.
Seized Products
Thanks to these interventions, significant quantities of non-compliant products were seized: 112 tons of subsidized products (cereals, vegetable oil, sugar, milk), 985 tons of fruits and vegetables, 3.1 tons of poultry meat, and 34,000 eggs were removed from the market.
