During a plenary session dedicated to examining the 2025 budget, Tunisia's Minister of Agriculture, Ezzeddine Ben Cheikh, announced the launch of a program to build new dams to reinforce the country's hydraulic infrastructure.

The five new dams are:

  • Tessa
  • Raghai
  • Meleh Supérieur
  • Siliana 1
  • Boulaâba

In parallel, five other dams currently under construction are expected to be completed in the coming months. These include:

  • Mellègue Supérieur
  • Saïda
  • Kalâa Kbira
  • Douimiss
  • Khalled

The completion of these dams is considered a priority by the ministry and is expected to be finalized urgently.

The projects aim to significantly increase the water storage capacity of existing infrastructure.

In addition to the construction and renovation of dams, extension works are planned for several others, including those in Nebhana, Siliana, and Barbar.
