Mauritania Launches "Ijraati", a Digital Platform for Administrative Procedures
Mauritania has introduced "Ijraati", a digital platform that centralizes administrative procedures, simplifying formalities and bringing the administration closer to citizens and businesses. As part of its digital transformation strategy, the government has inaugurated this portal, which groups over 800 online procedures. The goal is to standardize information, boost transparency, and facilitate access to public services for all users, investors, and businesses.
According to the official portal procedures.gov.mr, the platform offers a variety of procedures, such as:
- Creating a business
- Obtaining a driver's license
- Getting a vehicle registration card
- Registering with the national biometric registry
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and Modernization of Administration (MTNIMA), led by Ahmed Salem Ould Bede, is the architect behind this initiative. For each procedure, the website details the required documents, deadlines, and relevant administrations. A dashboard allows public services to track and update information in real-time.
This initiative strengthens administrative efficiency, reduces bureaucratic hurdles, and makes digital technology a key lever for public services. Mauritania is thus accelerating its digital transformation. It is worth noting that the country is ranked 165th out of 193 countries in the UN's 2024 E-Government Development Index, highlighting both its potential and challenges.
