Major Investment in Artificial Intelligence Announced in Morocco

Morocco has announced a significant new investment in artificial intelligence, aiming to strengthen its ambitions to become a digital hub in Africa.

A protocol agreement has been signed between Nexus Core Systems and the Moroccan authorities to build an "AI Factory Platform", a project estimated to be worth around 12 billion dirhams (approximately $1.28 billion). This investment includes a high-performance data center, a center of excellence dedicated to digital skills, and an innovation hub to support startups and emerging technologies.

According to reports from the sidelines of GITEX Africa 2026, the agreement was concluded between Nexus Core Systems and several Moroccan institutions, including the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform and the Moroccan Agency for Investment and Export Development (AMDIE).

The project is expected to be implemented in two phases, with the first infrastructure to be installed in the Nouaceur region. Ultimately, it aims to support the "Maroc Digital 2030" strategy, which seeks to strengthen the digital economy and create jobs in the technology sector.
