Tunisian Tourism Federation Prepares to Regulate the Sector with a New Charter

Mme Amal Djait, a member of the executive board of the Tunisian Interprofessional Tourism Federation, announced on Wednesday, December 25, that the federation is preparing, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, a charter of requirements to regulate the tourism sector.

Mme Djait highlighted the growing popularity of guesthouses and the enthusiasm of Tunisians for this tourist trend, particularly during school holidays and New Year's celebrations.

She explained that guesthouses are increasingly in vogue, both among Tunisians and foreign tourists, and are receiving more requests than traditional tourist establishments. She added that this situation necessitates giving them special attention and a well-regulated framework.

Furthermore, she emphasized the need to establish a sustainable residence project, which, according to her, could contribute to the growth and improvement of internal tourism.

It is worth noting that, according to the FITT's data, over 2000 alternative accommodations have been counted on Tunisian territory, with only about a hundred having obtained certification.
