MutualHack by MAE: A Celebration of Innovation and Excellence
The award ceremony for the 3rd edition of MutualHack by MAE, held in Tunis on May 23, 2026, was an opportunity to demonstrate that the mutual insurance company is more than just a simple company. To prove its generosity, MAE extended access to incubation beyond the three winners.
A Symbol of Transformation and Renewal
In the vast conference hall, the lighting conveyed the message of MAE behind the organization of its competition to uncover excellence. Derived from the nuance displayed in its logo, it is a vibrant malachite green tone, symbolizing transformation, protection, and renewal - a green inspired by a mineral that embodies the regenerative forces of life.
A Tribute to the Former Mutualist
It was no coincidence that Lassaad Zarrouk, the CEO of MAE, chose this occasion to bid farewell, evoking the values of MAE with great emotion: "Our mutual insurance company is much more than just a company. We have always made human beings our ultimate goal. All components of our mutual insurance company are attached to it, and even our innovations are at the service of human beings."
Zarrouk announced that out of the 2000 candidates for MutualHack, the 5% who were in the hall - about a hundred - had worked on the concept of citizenship, and that behind them, a team had worked for 7 to 8 months preparing for the event. He emphasized, still with emotion: "The young candidates gave us the opportunity to be proud of them and to honor all the components of mutualism. Today, these young people have largely deserved to be our partners."
Innovation is a Collective Sport
Following these rallying words, Helmi Jebali, head of the innovation, research, and prospective studies department, stressed that MutualHack by MAE had benefited from the mobilization of all: "The MAE Board of Directors has actively accompanied us since the first edition. We are all convinced that the mutual insurance company is not defined by its activities but by its actions. Innovation is a collective sport, a shared idea. And it is with this mentality that our mutual insurance company wanted to give young people a real opportunity to shine. From one edition to another, we discover new talents who innovate in the service of citizens, members, and patients. This is why we will now work on it throughout the year, not just occasionally."
Boosting Young Talents
Emphasizing MAE's commitment to boosting young talents, Yasmine Kacem, Project Manager of Mazam, mentioned a win-win relationship: "The participants in MutualHack must congratulate themselves on all the benefits it has brought them, both professionally and personally. In resonance, young people constantly push us to give our best every year."
A Surprise in Access to Incubation
It is true that MutualHack attracted 400 candidates in its first edition, then 1400 in the second year, before exceeding 2000 in this 3rd edition. This resulted in 24 teams of 4 to 5 members from 13 regions.
In the jury's testimonies before the announcement of the results, they were impressed by the quality of the projects, the commitment of the candidates, and the difficulty of making a decision when there were many convincing projects.
The Winners
At the end of the hackathon, three projects were rewarded:
- 1st prize (10,000 dinars): awarded to the Arsenal team for their "DockNock" project, an innovative health platform allowing secure and efficient communication between healthcare professionals and patients.
- 2nd prize (7,500 dinars): awarded to the BitByte team for their artificial intelligence-based call center project, aiming to optimize customer relationship management and automate exchanges.
- 3rd prize (5,000 dinars): awarded to the Rented team for their rental platform project integrating an insurance component to secure rented properties.
To extend the impact of this initiative, MAE Insurance will accompany not only the three winning teams but also six other selected teams through a three-month incubation program designed to develop, structure, and accelerate their innovative projects.
And Then, a Surprise!
Announced by Helmi Jebali, head of the innovation, research, and prospective studies department, the opportunity for incubation was extended to not less than six additional teams, in addition to the three winning teams. This incubation will be implemented to support the selected teams in developing and implementing their solutions.
