Mediterranean Coastal Environment Awareness Campaign Held in Gammarth

The beach of Gammarth hosted the 5th edition of the annual awareness campaign for the preservation of the Mediterranean coastal environment, organized by the European Union in partnership with the Tunisie Recyclage association. Since 2020, this event has taken place every year, changing locations with each edition. After Rafraf in 2022 and Cap Zebib in 2023, Gammarth was chosen as the venue for this year's event.

Program Highlights

The program included the release of marine turtles and a waste sorting campaign. The initiative aims to raise awareness among the community about the dangers of pollution on the sea and beaches, and to instill, particularly among children, a sense of environmental responsibility.

Engaging the Next Generation

Schoolchildren are involved every year, actively participating in beach cleaning and learning the basics of waste sorting.

International Support

Representatives from several European Union member state embassies were also present, highlighting the importance of this commitment to protecting the marine environment.
