Tunisia's Olive Oil Exports Soar in 2025/2026 Campaign
Tunisia has exported 130,900 tonnes of olive oil during the first three months of the 2025/2026 campaign, a significant increase of 55.7% compared to the same period last year, when 84,100 tonnes were exported, according to the Onagri.
Export Breakdown
- The majority of exports (88.4%) are still in bulk, but packaged oil is gaining ground, now representing 11.6% of total exports, up from 10.4% previously.
- Extra virgin olive oil dominates the market, accounting for 89.5% of total exports.
Revenue and Prices
- The total revenue from olive oil exports has reached 1,621.2 million dinars, a 34.8% increase compared to the same period last year (1,202.3 million dinars).
- Packaged oil accounts for 15.7% of total revenue.
- Prices have decreased slightly in January 2026, with an average price of 11.94 TND/kg, down 3.2% from 12.33 TND/kg in the same period last year.
- Prices vary depending on quality, ranging from 8.81 to 16.69 TND/kg.
Export Markets
- Europe leads the way, accounting for 55.4% of total exports, followed by North America (21.1%), Asia (12.1%), and Africa (7.5%).
- The top importers are Spain (30.9%), Italy (18.9%), and the United States (16.8%).
Organic Olive Oil Exports
- Tunisia has exported 12,600 tonnes of organic olive oil, worth 170.8 million dinars.
- The packaged portion remains modest, at 7.9%.
- Italy is the largest importer of organic olive oil, accounting for 42%, followed by Spain (22%), France (16%), and the United States (12%).
- The average price of organic olive oil is 13.60 TND/kg, ranging from 12.74 TND/kg for bulk oil to 23.62 TND/kg for packaged oil.
