UBCI Reinforces its Commitment to Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility
The Union Bancaire pour le Commerce et l'Industrie (UBCI) has taken a new step in its commitment to sustainable development and social responsibility. In September 2025, the bank announced the renewal of its "Engagé RSE" label at the "confirmed" level, awarded by AFNOR Certification, an independent and expert organization, as well as the obtention of the international "Responsibility Europe" certification.
A Confirmation of Progress
Already distinguished in 2022, UBCI confirms this year its progress in implementing the principles of ISO 26000. The "Engagé RSE" label, based on a rigorous evaluation covering several sites and numerous interviews with stakeholders, attests to the quality and credibility of its practices. It recognizes the bank's commitment to essential areas such as:
- Governance
- Customer relations
- Community involvement and local development
- Labor relations and working conditions
- Environmental protection
- Loyalty of practices
- Respect for human rights
A European Recognition
The "Responsibility Europe" certification, resulting from an initiative by the AFNOR Group (France), INDR (Luxembourg), and Ecoparc (Switzerland), places UBCI among the most demanding and pragmatic companies in terms of social responsibility. This label attests to the real added value of the actions taken and contributes directly to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
UBCI's Axes of Responsibility
Since 2015, UBCI's social responsibility approach has been structured around four inseparable axes:
- Economic Responsibility: UBCI translates this into ethical financing of activities that contribute to economic and social development in all areas of operation, with customer support to ensure sustainable and responsible practices.
- Social Responsibility: The bank engages in a proactive and human approach, valuing social dialogue, employee health and well-being, diversity, equal opportunities, and encouragement of solidarity initiatives.
- Civic Responsibility: UBCI reflects its civic DNA by actively engaging in education, culture, and the fight against exclusion, through sponsorship actions and the promotion of social inclusion.
- Environmental Responsibility: UBCI positions itself as a major player in the economy, protecting the environment, and implementing internal actions to reduce its carbon footprint and protect biodiversity.
A Credible and Impactful Approach
This double recognition confirms the solidity of UBCI's social responsibility approach. As a committed and civic-minded bank, it works towards a green economy, accompanies its customers in their transitions, and deploys multiple social and environmental initiatives. Faithful to its mission, UBCI reaffirms its role as a responsible actor, resolutely focused on transforming its commitments into concrete actions and building a sustainable and inclusive future.
