Tunisian Organization Calls for Urgent Reform of Tourism Sector
The Tunisian Organization for Consumer Information has called for an urgent reform of the tourism sector, aiming to improve access for Tunisian citizens, particularly low-income families, to the country's tourist infrastructure.
Legislative Initiative for Tunisians' Right to Tourism
The organization proposes the adoption of a legislative initiative that would guarantee Tunisians the right to benefit from at least 30% of the national tourist capacity. This offer would be framed by preferential rates, clearly defined, transparent, and subject to the control of independent bodies.
National Mechanism for Social Tourism
The OTC also calls for the creation of a permanent national mechanism for social tourism, which would utilize available public resources during holidays: school dormitories, university restaurants, youth and cultural centers, camping centers, or sports complexes. These infrastructure could thus serve to host and welcome children, students, and young people as part of leisure, cultural, and educational programs.
Integration into the Next Budget Law
The organization emphasizes the importance of integrating a specific clause into the next budget law, providing for the creation of a public fund dedicated to social and domestic tourism, accompanied by fiscal incentives for tourist establishments that participate in this approach.
Access to Leisure and National Heritage: A Civic Right
Finally, the OTC reminds us that access to leisure and the discovery of the national geographical and cultural heritage is an essential civic right, contributing to the reinforcement of the sense of belonging, citizenship, and the harmonious development of the country.
