The Observatory of the Sahara and the Sahel (OSS) Launches a Call for Applications for African Startups Specializing in Artificial Intelligence and Digital Solutions for Agriculture

The Observatory of the Sahara and the Sahel (OSS) has launched a call for applications targeting African startups specializing in artificial intelligence and digital solutions applied to agriculture. The goal is to develop an innovative chatbot capable of detecting and predicting crop diseases in North Africa.

This call is part of the GMES & Africa project (Global Management of Ecosystems and the Environment), a program supported by the African Union aimed at strengthening the capacities of African countries to use Earth observation technologies. More specifically, this chatbot project aims to improve the resilience of the agricultural sector against diseases and threats to crops, by leveraging advances in artificial intelligence and data analysis.

The OSS is seeking a startup capable of designing an effective, intuitive, and accessible technological solution for farmers and agricultural stakeholders in North Africa. The chatbot must be able to analyze collected data, provide accurate forecasts, and support farmers in making strategic decisions to protect their crops.

Interested African startups are invited to submit their applications through the OSS official website. The terms of reference and details of the call are available at the following link: https://www.oss-online.org/en/gmes-chatbot-agriculture.
