Tunisian Government to Invest 1.038 Billion Dinars in 2025 for Social Housing Construction and Renovation
The Tunisian government plans to invest 1.038 billion dinars in 2025 to finance the construction and renovation of 13,400 social housing units. This initiative aims to address the growing needs of Tunisian families in terms of housing and improve their living conditions.
An envelope of 240 million dinars will be dedicated to the construction of 11,770 social housing units, including new units, renovations, and compensations for rebuilt or expanded homes. These measures are part of the 2025 finance law, which places housing at the heart of the state's social priorities.
Among the flagship initiatives, the government also plans to regularize the situation of housing units located on unregistered land through the National Habitat Improvement Fund. This process, launched in 2021, is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, allowing concerned families to obtain official property titles.
In parallel, the second phase of the urban rehabilitation program will be completed, covering 160 neighborhoods across the country, with a focus on 99 new areas. Additionally, 10 urban centers will be modernized, strengthening local infrastructure and enhancing the attractiveness of living spaces.
Finally, the government plans to cancel debts for beneficiaries with arrears, a measure aimed at alleviating their financial burden and promoting family stability. The program will also be expanded to include interventions supporting the construction of individual homes within the social housing framework.
