Italian Group Sage Automotive Interiors to Strengthen Presence in Tunisia

The Italian group Sage Automotive Interiors, a leading player in technical textiles for the automotive industry, plans to significantly reinforce its presence in Tunisia. By 2027, the company aims to create a new production site, bringing the total number of jobs in the country to 3,000.

This announcement was made following a meeting held on June 11 between the Minister of Industry, Mines, and Energy, Fatma Thabet Chiboub, and a delegation from the group led by Francesco Schettino, representative of Sage Automotive, in the presence of the President of the Tunisian-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mourad Fradi.

During the exchange, the Italian group presented its development projects in Tunisia, focusing on expanding its activities, improving local added value, and multiplying job opportunities. These prospects are in line with the national strategy to upgrade the automotive industry, supported by the Partnership Pact for Competitiveness in the sector by 2027. This plan aims to double exports and jobs in the industry.

The Minister reaffirmed her department's commitment to supporting new high-tech projects, in line with Tunisia's priorities to consolidate its position as a regional hub in the automotive components sector.

Established in the La Goulette zone since March 2019 on a 27,000 m² site, Sage Automotive's first Tunisian site currently employs over 1,400 people. Globally, the group operates 22 sites in 18 countries.

With over 280 industrial companies, including 140 with foreign participation, the Tunisian automotive components sector generates over 100,000 jobs today. Tunisia ranks second in Africa in terms of automotive parts exports.
