Tunisia's Inflation Rate Sees Slight Decrease in November 2024

Tunisia's inflation rate has recorded a slight decline, reaching 6.6% in November 2024 compared to 6.7% in October. This drop is mainly attributed to the slowdown in price increases for food products, which fell from 9.3% in October to 8.5% in November. On the other hand, prices for the "restaurants, cafes, and hotels" group accelerated their growth, rising from 11.1% to 11.8%.

Food Prices Rise 9.3% Over the Past Year

Food prices have increased by 9.3% over the past year, marked by significant increases for ovine meats (+21.4%), dried fruits (+15.2%), and poultry (+14.1%). However, prices for edible oils and eggs decreased by 3% and 3.5%, respectively.

Manufactured Goods See 6% Price Increase

Manufactured goods saw a 6% price increase over the past year, driven by the rise in prices for clothing (+9.5%) and household maintenance products (+8%).

Services See 5.6% Price Increase

Services saw a 5.6% price increase, mainly due to the rise in prices for the "restaurants, cafes, and hotels" group (+11.8%).

Monthly Price Changes

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose slightly by 0.1%, with a notable increase in prices for restaurant services (+1.3%) and clothing (+0.4%). In contrast, food prices decreased by 0.4%, mainly due to the drop in prices for edible oils (-8.9%) and poultry (-1.1%).

Underlying Inflation Remains Stable

The underlying inflation rate, excluding food and energy products, remained stable at 6.3%. Free products, not subject to price controls, saw an annual increase of 7.4%, compared to 3.7% for controlled products.
