Indian Automaker Tata Motors Acquires Italian Iveco for €3.8 Billion
Indian automaker Tata Motors has signed an agreement to acquire Italian group Iveco, a specialist in industrial vehicles, for €3.8 billion. This operation excludes Iveco's defense division, which will be sold to Italian group Leonardo for €1.7 billion. The finalization is expected in early 2026, pending regulatory approvals and the divestment of the armored branch.
This merger aims to create a major global player in the heavy-duty vehicle market, with a combined revenue of €22 billion and over 540,000 vehicles sold annually. Tata Motors, dominant in the Indian market and emerging countries, and Iveco, well-established in Europe and Latin America, plan to pool their resources, particularly in research and development, to accelerate innovation around zero-emission vehicles.
