Tunisian Olive Oil Exports See Remarkable 57.2% Increase

Tunisian olive oil exports have recorded a remarkable 57.2% increase by the end of April 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. This progress was highlighted during the Tunisian Olive Oil Council meeting, which took place on May 27 at the Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy.

In fact, the performances of exports to various destinations such as Canada, the United States, Europe, and Gulf countries confirm the growing positioning of Tunisian olive oil on the global market.

In this dynamic, the Council reviewed the 2025 promotional program for packaged olive oil, developed by the Technical Center for Packaging and Conditioning. This program plans to participate in international events such as the "Gulfood" exhibition in Dubai and "IFE" in London. Initiatives will also be implemented in Tunisia, including a promotional event for the diplomatic corps in Tunis and hosting European commercial delegations" within the framework of the "Exporti" project. The objective is clear: to strengthen the visibility of the Tunisian label and diversify outlets.

Moreover, an important step has been taken with the presentation of a "Guide to Procedures for Awarding and Disbursing Aid from the Olive Oil Promotion Fund". This document, which will be integrated into a digitalization process, aims to simplify the subscription to the scheme and facilitate the granting of subsidies to exporters.

Initiatives to Strengthen its Position

It is worth recalling that in terms of challenges, the Tunisian government adopted in March 2025 a series of measures to support olive oil exporters, including:

  • A 50% subsidy on maritime transport costs for all destinations, except for France, Italy, and Spain.
  • A 70% subsidy on air transport costs for all destinations, specifically for packaged olive oil.
  • The amendment of Decree 94-1743 to facilitate export procedures and extend the validity of invoices from one to six months.

These measures aim to improve the competitiveness of Tunisian packaged olive oil on international markets by reducing logistical obstacles and simplifying administrative procedures.
