"Salammbô. From Flaubert to Carthage" Exhibition at the Bardo Museum until January 12, 2025

The "Salammbô. From Flaubert to Carthage" exhibition, dedicated to the Punic civilization, will be held at the Bardo Museum until January 12, 2025. Organized in collaboration with the Agency for the Valorization of Heritage and Cultural Promotion, as well as the Bardo Museum, this initiative aims to enrich our understanding of ancient civilizations.

The French Institute of Tunis (IFT), which supports this exhibition, has also developed a diversified cultural program to accompany it. The program, designed for a wide audience, particularly schoolchildren, includes concerts, musical readings, photography workshops, and creative encounters. Eva Nguyen Binh, President of the French Institute, highlighted the special attention paid to raising awareness among young people through these activities.

The museum has made several spaces available to host events programmed by the Institute.

The exhibition brings together over 50 works from Tunisian and French collections, including those from the National Museum of Bardo, the Museum of Carthage, as well as French institutions such as the Rouen Normandy Metropolis Museums, the Orsay Museum, and the National Library of France.

During her speech, the French Ambassador to Tunisia, Anne Guéguen, praised the importance of international collaborations in enriching our knowledge of the Punic civilization. She also highlighted the impact of these exchanges on understanding current cultural identities, while valuing the work of the Institute in strengthening these exchanges. "The work of various institutions has enabled us to enrich our knowledge of this civilization and, by extension, our own cultural identities," she said.

Anne Guéguen also mentioned future projects that will benefit from the support of the French Institute, with an annual budget of 3.5 million euros for the Franco-Tunisian partnership. Forty projects are already receiving support from this dynamic collaboration.
