Unmissable Exhibition: "Creating is Resisting the Shame of Being a Man"

From October 15 to 30, 2024, an unmissable exhibition will take place at 39 Rue du Général Kheireddine. Titled "Creating is Resisting the Shame of Being a Man," it will be open to the public from 10am to 6pm, every day.

This event, at the crossroads of contemporary art and social reflection, brings together striking works that question societal norms and human struggles.

Among the standout artists featured in this exhibition, Gladys Kalichini shines with her unique approach to memory and the representation of women in colonial resistance stories. Kalichini has forged a solid reputation on the international art scene. Winner of the 2022 Henrike Grohs Art Award, she has successfully imposed her vision through works exhibited worldwide.

This year, she presents "This Bread Gives Life," a poetic and profound video created in 2024, which highlights the links between survival and daily life, reminding us of the importance of resistance in simple gestures.

Another major piece in the exhibition is Omar Bey's "Artistic Fighter," a monumental work of 240x330 cm in enamelled bricks, ceramics, and metal. This impressive installation symbolizes the inner and artistic struggle, exploring themes of strength and perseverance.

The exhibited works transform the act of creation into a form of resistance against injustices and imposed norms. Through these individual and collective struggles, the public is invited to a sensitive and engaged reflection.
