Tunisian Citrus Exports See Significant Growth in 2024-2025 Campaign

Tunisian citrus exports have experienced a significant surge during the 2024-2025 campaign, recording a 33% increase in volume and 16.9% in value, reaching over 33.8 million dinars, according to figures published by the National Observatory of Agriculture (Onagri).

This rebound is attributed to a particularly dynamic campaign, marked by strong regional demand and a strategy of diversifying export markets. The "Maltaise" variety, emblematic of Tunisian production, played a central role in this performance, accounting for over 50% of exported volumes.

Another notable fact is the rise of the Libyan market. In just one campaign, Libya's share of export revenue jumped from 5.3% to 40.8%, making the country a strategic partner for the Tunisian citrus sector.

Onagri also reports promising openings towards the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, two Gulf markets renowned for their quality requirements. This breakthrough not only testifies to the competitiveness of Tunisian products but also to the adaptability of exporters.

In its statement, Onagri calls for capitalizing on this momentum by consolidating the presence of Tunisian citrus fruits on European markets and exploring the still underutilized opportunities of the African continent.
