Tunisia Launches Fifth Destination Management Organisation (DMO) for Tunis-Carthage

The Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Mohamed Moez Belhassine, officially launched the fifth Destination Management Organisation (DMO) in Tunisia, dedicated to the city of Tunis-Carthage, during a ceremony held on Tuesday.

Objective: Promoting Tunisian Tourism and Branding

The goal of this initiative is to bring together all stakeholders and professionals in the tourism sector around a common cause: promoting tourism and Tunisian branding, while ensuring competitiveness and sustainability of this destination.

Independent Structure for Tunis-Carthage

This independent structure, taking the form of a federation, will be responsible for managing and promoting the tourist destination of Tunis-Carthage, rich in civilizational, cultural, and heritage assets. The board of directors of the DMO Tunis-Carthage consists of:

The Minister of Tourism highlighted that the creation of the DMO "Tunis-Carthage", the fifth structure of its kind after Djerba, Zaghouan, and Mahdia, represents a crucial step in the development of Tunisian tourism. This ambitious and distinctive project, with a new governance and active participation of all stakeholders, aims to position Tunis-Carthage among the most important and competitive tourist destinations in the Mediterranean.

Part of the "Tounes Wijhetouna" Programme

This project is part of the "Tounes Wijhetouna" programme, an initiative funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the European Union, and implemented jointly by the Ministry of Tourism and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
