Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft Lead the Pack
As of January 2025, the largest companies by market capitalization are Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft. Apple takes the top spot as the world's largest company, with a market capitalization of $3.68 trillion. Nvidia follows closely with $3.54 trillion, while Microsoft comes in third with $3.15 trillion. Alphabet and Amazon are tied for fourth place, each with a market capitalization of $2.36 trillion.
Tech Giants Dominate the Market
Eight out of the top ten companies belong to the technology sector, and all of them have outperformed the S&P 500 over the past five years. Currently, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is at the top of the list of the world's largest companies. Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA), which experienced rapid growth in 2024, is not far behind, having seen its value skyrocket last year.
A Trillion-Dollar Club
Ten of the largest companies have a market capitalization of at least $1 trillion. While technology companies dominate the top of the market, other sectors are also represented, including oil, insurance, medical companies, and financial services.
