Tourism Ministry Accelerates Preparations for Summer Season in Sousse
The Ministry of Tourism is gearing up for the summer season in Sousse, with positive indicators regarding the pace of tourist bookings, signaling a stable demand for the destination.
Meeting to Discuss Preparations
A working meeting was held on May 13, 2026, at the ministry's headquarters, attended by the Governor of Sousse, representatives of several tourist municipalities, and regional and national officials from the sector. The meeting was organized as part of the follow-up to the decisions made by the Regional Tourism Council on March 11, 2026.
Focus on Quality and Infrastructure
Discussions focused on the progress of preparations for the peak summer season, with an emphasis on improving the quality of services, reception conditions, and the preparation of tourist spaces and infrastructure. The ministry also stressed the development of high-end and alternative tourism in Sousse, while strengthening control and inspection campaigns to improve security, cleanliness, service quality, and visitor reception.
Prioritizing Domestic Tourism
The ministry highlighted the importance of domestic tourism, considering it an essential pillar of the sector's dynamics.
Environmental Initiatives
On the environmental front, the authorities announced the signing of around 50 agreements under the "Green Sponsorship" program. The Director-General of the Coastal Protection and Development Agency indicated that several beach cleaning and coastal protection interventions were funded by the Ministry of Tourism through the Tourist Area Protection Fund, with a financing rate of 60%.
Promotional Campaigns and Tourism Development
The meeting also discussed support for promotional and marketing campaigns to enhance Sousse's tourist appeal, as well as the development of tourist circuits and the promotion of Tunisian handicraft products to stimulate exports.
Digital Promotion Initiative
Finally, the Sousse Regional Tourism Delegation is currently preparing a digital promotional application to showcase the diversity of the region's tourist offerings and increase its visibility in target markets.
