World Bank-Initiated Higher Education Modernization Project Supports Employability and Improves Job Prospects for Students
The Higher Education Modernization Project, launched by the World Bank, aims to enhance employability and improve job prospects for students in higher education while strengthening its management. With the implementation of over 600 quality improvement initiatives in higher education institutions across Tunisia, this project has benefited more than 22,000 students through accreditation, the introduction of new degree programs, and the establishment of career and certification centers.
Among the major achievements are the establishment of over 40 industry-linked degree programs and the introduction of performance-based financial aid for five public universities. These efforts seek to align training with market needs, optimize campus life, promote research, and update the education system's administration.
The Career and Certification Center stands out among these initiatives, offering tangible opportunities to thousands of students and teachers, thereby improving their employability and professional advancement. Another similar program, located in Sousse, has also achieved significant success with its three specialized master's programs: plastics and composite materials engineering, digital engineering and interconnected systems control, and industrial metrology and quality control. ISET Sousse has successfully optimized the impact of alternating internships to strengthen links between its students and industrial companies. This approach has enabled almost all graduates to secure job prospects immediately after completing their degree.
Note: ISET stands for Institut Supérieur d'Etudes Technologiques (Higher Institute of Technological Studies).
