Unlocking the Power of KPIs: A Key to Global Performance
At the 18th edition of HR Expo, Adrian Mayans Vergara addressed the challenges companies face when implementing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). His talk, titled "KPIs for Targeting Global Performance," captivated an audience of HR professionals and executives eager to understand how to transform these tools into strategic levers.
From the outset, Adrian Mayans Vergara highlighted a often-overlooked truth: "KPIs inform you about your performance, but they are not the solution. They signal a problem or confirm that everything is going well, but they don't explain the 'why' or the 'how' to resolve." For him, their value lies in combining them with managerial intuition and rapid execution. "Having the right data is one thing, but without a competent team to interpret and act on it, it becomes useless, or even costly," he emphasized, citing the risk of wasting time and money.
Adrian illustrated the use of KPIs in recruitment and talent development. He evaluates the success of new recruits after six months and one year, as well as the motivation of high-performing employees. A high-performing employee who has stayed in the same role for 18 months is at risk of quitting due to lack of motivation, which prompts Adrian to consider a promotion or role change.
Finally, he highlighted the importance of KPIs in tracking commercial performance, such as sales volume or customer retention rates. These indicators enable the identification of areas for improvement for each collaborator and the adjustment of training programs accordingly. For Adrian Mayans Vergara, relevant and well-used KPIs are essential for an organization's growth and global performance.
