Significant Decline in Investments in Agricultural, Fishing, Aquaculture, Services, and Primary Transformation Sectors

In the first eight months of 2024, approved investments in the agricultural, fishing, aquaculture, services, and primary transformation sectors have experienced a significant decline. The total number of investment operations stands at 1612, with a total value of 207.8 million dinars (Mtnd).

This represents a 5% decrease in the number of operations and a 27.3% decrease in value compared to the same period last year, when 1696 operations with a value of 286 Mtnd were recorded.

The agricultural sector has been particularly affected by this slowdown, with a 38.3% decrease in the number of investments and a 50.1% decrease in value compared to the average of private investments for the 2018-2022 period.

In concrete terms, approved agricultural investments have been established at 129.8 Mtnd for the first eight months of 2024, compared to 177.3 Mtnd in 2023.

Other sectors such as fishing and aquaculture have also been affected. Investments in the fishing sector have decreased from 39.3 Mtnd in 2023 to 22.2 Mtnd in 2024. As for aquaculture, although the figure remains modest, it has experienced a significant increase, rising from 2.9 Mtnd to 6.5 Mtnd. Regarding services, the value of investments has slightly increased, from 37.9 Mtnd in 2023 to 43.2 Mtnd in 2024.

The primary transformation sector, on the other hand, has experienced a notable reduction in investments. While it had a value of 28.7 Mtnd in 2023, it has dropped to 6.1 Mtnd in 2024.
