Tunisia Sees Significant Growth in Fruit Exports
Between January 1st and August 15th, 2025, Tunisia exported 24,000 tons of fruits, with a total value of 96.3 million Tunisian dinars (Mtnd).
This represents a significant increase compared to the same period in 2024, when exports reached 20,600 tons, worth 64.1 Mtnd, according to figures from the Interprofessional Group of Fruits (GIFruits).
Libya Remains Top Destination
Libya remains Tunisia's primary client, with 20,200 tons of fruits exported, representing over 57 Mtnd, compared to 16,300 tons worth 45.2 Mtnd during the first half of last year.
New Markets Emerge
The United Arab Emirates now ranks second in terms of export destinations, with sales reaching 13.8 Mtnd thanks to the export of 775 tons of fruits.
Tunisia has also seen growth in sales to promising new markets, such as India, which imported fruits worth 5.2 Mtnd, and Qatar, with imports valued at 2.5 Mtnd.
Traditional Markets
In terms of traditional markets, France imported 1,031 tons of Tunisian fruits, worth 2.7 Mtnd, while exports to Italy decreased, from 2,482 tons (4.6 Mtnd) in 2024 to 886 tons in 2025.
Fruit Focus
Exports are primarily focused on watermelon and stone fruits, such as apricots and peaches.
