Busy Month Ahead for Taxpayers in Tunisia

May is shaping up to be a dense month for Tunisian taxpayers, with several tax deadlines to respect according to the calendar published by the General Directorate of Taxes (DGI). From monthly declarations to obligations related to income tax, taxpayers must respect precise deadlines to avoid late penalties.

May 5: Deadline for Vehicle Tax Payment

As of May 5, owners of leased or financed vehicles are required to pay the circulation tax. This date marks the last deadline for payment of this tax.

May 15: Monthly Declaration Deadline for Individuals

May 15 represents another important deadline: the submission of the monthly declaration for individuals, generally to the Value-Added Tax (VAT), withholding tax, and other monthly obligations.

May 20: Deadline for Tele-Declaration Professionals

Professionals affiliated with the tele-declaration regime have until May 20 to transmit their monthly tax declarations and make online payments.

May 26: Deadline for Annual Income Tax Declaration

The date of May 26 specifically concerns individuals subject to the flat-rate regime, particularly artisans, service providers, and non-accounting merchants. These taxpayers must submit their income tax declaration before this date.

May 28: Deadline for Monthly Declarations for Non-Online Declarations

Finally, May 28 is the last deadline for monthly declarations for those not subject to online declaration, with an obligation to make remote payments.

The DGI emphasizes that these deadlines represent the legal limits, beyond which late penalties may be applied. It is therefore recommended that taxpayers prepare their documents in advance and regularly consult official platforms.
