Net Foreign Assets of the Central Bank of Tunisia Reach 25,743.4 Million Tunisian Dinars

The net foreign assets of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT) stood at 25,743.4 million Tunisian dinars (Mtnd) as of September 20, 2024, according to statistics published by the institution. Although this figure is slightly lower than the same period in 2023, when they reached 26,299.5 Mtnd.

In terms of import coverage, foreign exchange reserves reached 116 days as of September 20, one day more than on September 19. This figure remains stable compared to the same period last year, when it was also 116 days.

Despite maintaining a comfortable level of reserves, the variations can be attributed to movements in tourist receipts and remittances from Tunisian workers abroad, which have shown positive increases. In fact, cumulative tourist receipts rose to 5,137.1 Mtnd, compared to 4,792.1 Mtnd in 2023, while cash remittances reached 5,552.3 Mtnd.

These indicators suggest a certain resilience of the Tunisian economy, despite external pressures related to the servicing of external debt, which has increased to 10,295.8 Mtnd, compared to 7,021.4 Mtnd a year earlier.
