Tunisian Farmers to Benefit from New Financial Aids Starting January 2025

As of January 2025, Tunisian farmers will benefit from new financial aids outlined in the 2025 finance law. These measures aim to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in agriculture and maritime fishing, while strengthening their access to financing.

A financing line of 7 million dinars will be created to offer medium- and long-term loans to SMEs, including new businesses. These loans, granted at favorable conditions, will finance projects in agriculture and fishing.

Another significant aid is a credit line of 10 million dinars to cover the operational and management needs of SMEs. Additionally, breeders will receive a subsidy of 1,000 dinars for each newborn calf, paid in several stages.

To support small breeders, the state will waive import taxes on young cattle, heifers, and calves until the end of 2028. This measure will reduce costs for these farmers.

Unauthorized deep agricultural wells can be easily regularized through a simplified procedure, with the payment of a tax.

The state will also cover the interest on loans for small cattle breeders. Banks will apply a limited rate equal to the monetary market rate plus 2%.

A fund of 10 million dinars will also be dedicated to compensating farmers in the event of natural disasters. Half of this fund will help small farmers purchase productive heifers.

Finally, the Value-Added Tax (VAT) on agricultural products intended for processing will be reduced. Small breeders will be able to cumulate this reduction with other aids provided by the law.
