Lear Corporation Inaugurates New Industrial Unit in Tunisia
Dedicated to Thermal Comfort Systems for Automotive Industry
The American automotive equipment manufacturer, Lear Corporation, has inaugurated a new industrial unit in Menzel Bourguiba, Tunisia, dedicated to the production of Thermal Comfort Systems. The site is focused on producing integrated systems for automotive seats, combining heating, ventilation, and active cooling, as well as advanced features such as lumbar support, massage, steering wheel heating, and presence detection. These systems, increasingly in demand by manufacturers, accompany the evolution of vehicles towards greater comfort, safety, and embedded intelligence.
Key Features of the New Unit
- The unit represents an investment of approximately 100 million dinars for the construction phase
- It covers an area of 32,000 square meters, with facilities designed to meet high standards of industrial safety and environmental respect
- At full capacity, the site is expected to generate 4,500 direct jobs, reinforcing the socio-economic impact of the project in the Bizerte region
Strategic Importance for Lear Corporation and Tunisia
This implantation is part of Lear Corporation's global strategy, which includes 255 sites in 37 countries and employs over 173,700 people worldwide. By choosing Tunisia to develop these high-value-added activities, the group consolidates the country's position within the global value chains of the automotive industry, beyond traditional assembly or subcontracting activities.
Confirmation of Tunisia's Growing Role in the Automotive Industry
For the Tunisian Automotive Association (TAA), this implantation confirms a trend already observed in recent years: Tunisia is no longer just a production site with competitive costs, but an increasingly integrated link in global value chains, capable of hosting high-tech activities.
