Morocco to Boost Tourism with Luxury Hotels
Morocco is set to take a significant leap in its tourism development. The Moroccan real estate group Alliances and the Turkish hotel chain Rixos Hotels signed a letter of intent on November 7 in Casablanca to build three luxury hotels, representing a total investment of 3 billion dirhams (approximately $320 million).
Aims and Objectives
This approach aims to strengthen the kingdom's attractiveness and diversify its offerings by 2030, the year it hopes to be among the top 10 global tourist destinations.
Partnership Details
The partnership plans to construct three establishments:
- Rixos Marrakech: a 26-hectare complex with over 400 rooms and 60 villas
- Aliée Marrakech: a 150-room lifestyle hotel with 50 villas
- Rixos Lixus Larache: a 400-room project aimed at revitalizing the country's northern coast
These projects are expected to generate around 2,500 direct jobs and 3,000 indirect jobs.
Strategic Context
This strategic partnership is part of the transformation dynamic of the Moroccan tourism sector, which welcomed 17.5 million visitors in 2024, up from 14.5 million the previous year. With upcoming global events, including the 2030 World Cup, Morocco aims to strengthen its position by focusing on luxury tourism and immersive experiences — a shift that could redefine its image on the global stage.
