The Tunisian dermatologist Moez Ben Salem, a prominent member of the Tunisian Society of Dermatology and Venereology (STDV), has been elected President of the African Society of Dermatology and Venereology (ASDV) for a two-year term. According to the Tunisian Agency TAP, this nomination was announced during the ASDV's general assembly, which took place concurrently with the 4th African Congress of Dermatology and Venereology in Tunis from April 23 to 27.
Ben Salem stated in a declaration to TAP that this honorary distinction offers Tunisia an opportunity to strengthen its position in the field of dermatology at the African level. He emphasized the importance of this function for the development of dermatology on the continent and the improvement of access to care in underserved regions, while ensuring solid African representation within international organizations.
The congress, which brought together around 600 participants from 24 different nationalities, marked the first time this major event was held in North Africa, testifying to Tunisia's growing prominence in the medical sector. The next congress is scheduled for 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
