Tunisian Marouane Kessentini Appointed Head of College of Computing at Grand Valley State University
Marouane Kessentini, a Tunisian national, has been appointed as the head of the College of Computing at Grand Valley State University, according to the university's official website. This appointment will take effect on July 6.
Dr. Kessentini's career began at the University of Tunis, where he earned his degrees with distinction. He then pursued his Ph.D. at the University of Montreal. Later, at the University of Michigan-Flint, he directed research centers and contributed to the advancement of artificial intelligence and digital accessibility.
Notably, Dr. Kessentini is an associate dean for research and graduate studies at the College of Innovation and Technology at the University of Michigan-Flint. He has also held leadership positions in various research centers and initiatives. These include serving as the director of the National Science Foundation Industry-University Cooperative Research Center on Pervasive AI in Michigan, director of the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates on digital accessibility, and member of the board of directors of the Rackham Graduate School and MCity at the University of Michigan.
