Treasury Achieves Grand Slam in Two Days, Raises 2,398.6 Billion TND
In a remarkable feat, the Treasury has successfully raised 2,398.6 billion Tunisian dinars (TND) in just two days. This achievement is a testament to the Treasury's ability to mobilize significant funds in a short period.
First BTA Auction Raises 1,260 Billion TND
On December 10, 2024, the Treasury held its first BTA auction, which raised 1,260 billion TND at an average weighted rate of 9.91%. This amount will be used to repay BTCT 52 weeks, due on December 13, 2024, for the same amount.
BTCT Auction Raises 138.6 Billion TND
On the same day, a BTCT auction was held, which raised 138.6 billion TND. This amount will be used to pay off BTCT 26 weeks, due on June 6, 2025.
Second BTCT Auction Raises 1,000 Billion TND
On December 11, 2024, a second BTCT auction was held, which raised 1,000 billion TND at an average weighted rate of 8.70%. This amount will be used to pay off BTCT 26 weeks, due on December 18, 2024.
Additional BTCT Emission Raises 31.8 Billion TND
Adding to these amounts, the Treasury also issued BTCT 26 weeks on December 5, 2024, which raised 31.8 billion TND. In total, the Treasury has raised 2,430.4 billion TND in just four working days.
Minimal Impact on Liquidity
While this achievement is impressive, it's worth noting that the net effect on liquidity in the financial system will be minimal. Between December 6 and 18, the State will have repaid 2,419 billion TND in principal, excluding interest. This repayment has enabled the Treasury to mobilize these amounts in such a short period.
Upcoming Auctions
The Treasury has also announced two upcoming auctions. The first, scheduled for December 16, aims to raise 80 billion TND (BTCT 26 weeks, due on June 19, 2025). The second, scheduled for December 20, aims to raise 1,000 billion TND (BTA 9.90%, due on December 26, 2034). This amount will be used to secure the end of the year and ensure the repayment of the 500 billion TND advance obtained from the BCT in 2020.
