Qatari Company to Launch Major Agricultural Project in Algeria's Sahara Region
The Al Rayyan Agricultural Company is set to launch a large-scale agricultural project in Algeria, primarily in the Sahara regions. This was announced during a meeting in Algiers between Omar Rekkache, Director of the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion (AAPI), and Abdullah Al-Attiyah, President of Al Rayyan.
It is worth noting that the project aims to produce strategic agricultural products such as milk, meat, and cereals. This adds to other Qatari investments, including the Baladna project signed in April 2024, which plans to produce 1.7 billion liters of milk per year and raise 270,000 heads of livestock.
Algeria is counting on these investments to reduce its food dependence and develop agriculture in the region.
