Minister Highlights Key Role of Islamic Development Bank Group in Supporting Member Countries' Development Programs
On the sidelines of the Consultative Forum of Governors of Member States of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) in Medina, Saudi Arabia, Minister Samir Abdelhafidh emphasized the concrete and active role the IDB Group can play in intensifying its financial and technical support to member countries to launch their development programs. These programs include those related to food security, green economy, and social development.
The Minister of Economy and Planning called for more dynamism and flexibility in the Bank's financing conditions and to facilitate the use of its funds by increasing its contribution to financing development projects. He also invited the Bank's key stakeholders to strengthen its role in sharing technical expertise and successful experiences among member countries, as well as promoting small and medium-sized enterprises.
This forum is part of a new strategic study by the IDB Group for the next ten years, in light of recent transformations and challenges affecting economic and social development in most countries around the world.
The meeting, which was opened by the Saudi Minister of Finance and chaired by the Algerian Minister of Finance, saw the participation of IDB Group President Muhammad Sulaiman Al Jasser, executive directors of the Group's companies, and governors of member states.
