New Price Ceiling for Potatoes and Profit Margin Caps for Fish in Retail

As of August 4, 2025, the Ministry of Commerce is imposing a price ceiling on potatoes: 1,650 millimes/kg in warehouses, 2,000 millimes/kg in wholesale, and 2,500 millimes/kg in retail.

Additionally, profit margins on fish sold in retail in their raw state must not exceed 25%, based on justified purchase prices supported by invoices.

These measures are accompanied by a warning to all actors in the supply chain, including producers, wholesalers, and retailers, who must imperatively justify their professional status, respect legal channels, and comply with the imposed price ceilings. In case of non-compliance, authorities will proceed with immediate seizure of products and may apply severe judicial and administrative sanctions.

Note: "millimes" is a Tunisian unit of currency, equivalent to 1/1,000 of a Tunisian dinar.
