Tunisian Traditional Cakes Exempt from Compensation Fee

The latest issue of the Official Journal of the Tunisian Republic, published on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, announced a decision excluding certain popular Tunisian traditional cakes from the application of the compensation fee.

The decree, issued by the Ministry of Finance and dated May 10, 2024, specifies the following traditional Tunisian cakes that are exempt from this measure:

  • Makroudh and garn ghzel
  • Zlabia and mkharek
  • Ghraïba in all its forms
  • Bouchkout and its various varieties
  • Youyou and sweet pastries
  • Sweet Harissa
  • Debla, qraouche, and chbabek el jannah
  • Sweet Brika and mâassem
