Tunisia Grants 187 Licenses for Solar Energy Projects

The Ministry of Industry has awarded 187 licenses to small and medium-sized Tunisian enterprises as part of the fifth phase of the call for tenders for photovoltaic projects. These licenses will enable them to produce electricity from solar energy, thereby strengthening the development of renewable energies in the country.
During a national congress on renewable energies organized by the Conect, the Minister of Industry, Fatma Thabet, emphasized that these projects are part of a strategy to strengthen Tunisia's energy sovereignty and security by promoting partnerships with national and international actors.

Sadok Besbes, President of the professional group of renewable energies within the Conect, welcomed the licensing regime that allows Tunisian SMEs to contribute to national electricity production while developing exportable expertise to neighboring countries. According to him, the 35% target could even be exceeded and reach 50% by 2030.
